16th Highest Trekking Peak in Nepal
Not perhaps the Everest by a little - but its Lobuche that stands close to the highest point in the planet. Attractive, and daunting mountain that rises over the moraines of the Khumbu Glacier to a spectacular skyline, forms the south ridge providing common climbing route.
One can reach the peak of Lobuche by descending a marked notch and climbing steep snowy slopes to the top. Said that Laurence Nielson and Ang Gyalzen Sherpa made the first ascent to Lobuche on 25 April 1984, but possibilities are that others may have reached the summit before as it is always especially remarked by the Everest Expedition groups.
