Overview

Around Dhaulagiri Trekking... Continuous reward of the adventure. This is extended and strenuous trek, through high alpine pastures, higher passes and serene, and uninhabited valleys. Trekking off the main paths is not only possible, but can be immensely rewarding, though you do need a sense of adventure and an increased ability to deal with unexpected. Geographically Dhaulagiri region is a land of dramatic contrast.

Long closed to visitors, for a variety of reasons - including its remoteness, the region west and north of Dhaulagiri was opened to trekkers, traveling in organized groups. This made it possible for trekkers to go behind, north of the Dhaulagiri massif, to explore remote villages and even more remote valleys, which had been the sole domain of mountaineers.

Dhaulagiri Region - un-noticed attraction

Following the rivers upstream, ferns and forests of oak and other deciduous trees and juniper are interesting. Mountain sides of rhododendron blaze with colour in the spring, and other flowers are abundant on the trail. Even on high mountain passes above the tree line, tiny alpine flowers can be fund dotting the wind swept ground. The vast massif screen the hidden land of Dolpa to its north and to the west of Dhaulagiri I are Nepal’s western hills. This is also an opportunity to experience the Tibetan Buddhist culture that is through out the Himalaya.
