MARDI HIMAL CLIMBING

Tharpu  Peak - General Information

Now you are seeing about the lowest and the least climbed / visited trekking peak in Nepal. Less than 15 miles from Pokhara, it is the most southerly peak of the Annapurna range.

The western world knew about the mountain when the photographs of this peak were revealed in 1953 by Baisl Goodfellow that resulted its first ascent in 1961. The only route to get the summit still remains same as it was the East Flank during the first attempt. Of course there are magnificent views of the Annapurna Range and the Fishtail 'Machhapuchhare' available from the summit.

Island Peak (6,160m / 20,210 ft) - The Another Popular Trekking Peak in this Region

Imja Tse peak towers at a height of 6,160 meters, and gets famed by the Island Peak (Named by Eric Shipton’s party in 1953), as the peak resembles an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche. Later in 1983, the peak was renamed as Imja Tse.

The peak was first ascended in 1953 by a British team as preparation for climbing Everest. Tenzing Norgay was one of the members who successfully ascended it. In addition to the actual climb, the trek involved in this trip gives you "the grand tour" of the famous Khumbu valley.

Chulu East (6,584m / 21,599 ft) could be next you want to see

If you are looking for a climb up to Chulu Peaks, the next to think could be Chulu East (6,584m / 21,599 ft).

Close up views of the Annapurna range (40 miles between the two river valleys contain at twelve 7,000 m peaks and many more above the 6,000m) and varied ecosystems, diverse cultures and an ever changing landscape - lush, green paddy fields and oak forests, arid deserts, the deepest gorge and some of the most fascinating mountains make this one of the most popular areas in the world for trekkers and mountaineers.
